Privacy Policy

Introduction

The Régie des installations olympiques (hereafter, referred to as “RIO”), which is responsible for the “parcolympique.qc.ca” website, its social medias and its intranet (hereafter, referred to as the “Sites”), places the highest priority on your privacy.

The objective of this Privacy Policy is to inform you of the practices in place related to the use of the personal information you provide to us when visiting the Sites.

Scope of the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Site. It takes into account the requirements of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information (chapter A-2.1, hereafter “Law of access”) and all other applicable laws.

Links to other websites

The Sites includes pertinent links to other government and non-government websites. Any exchanged information on such websites is no longer subject to this Privacy Policy, but to the one in place on the visited site.

Use of cookies

Cookies may be used on the Sites in order to make navigation simple, easy, and efficient. These cookies do not collect information about your identity or any other personal information.

Your browser allows the use of these cookies by default. You can deactivate this function at any time. Note that doing so means you may not be able to use some of the functionalities of the Sites. You can also manually delete any trace of your navigation stored in your browser history.

Any information automatically transmitted between computers cannot personally identify you. This information is only collected for technological purposes inherent to browsing the Internet.

Automatically collected data

When navigating the Sites, your browser will transmit data to our server. This data is collected and stored internally by RIO or a third party in our organization’s name. This data may include, but is not limited to: the visitor’s IP address, the URL of the site that directed you to ours, the date and time of your visit, pages visited, and information about the browser used.

RIO will not collect personal information on users, except in the event that a user agrees to share this information.

In addition, and regarding online purchases on the Sites, RIO collects only the personal information necessary for processing a purchase. Personal information required for online payment and the user’s credit card number are only shared with the outside provider entrusted with processing online transactions.

RIO does not save any credit card number provided for online transactions made through the Sites.

Many technological means can be used to improve how a user browses the Sites. These means may require the automatic collection of data by RIO or third parties in our name. In general, the data collected does not allow you to be identified.

The use of behavioural targeting technology

The Site makes use of retargeting technology. This technique aims to target certain visitors interested in our Sites content and expose them to our ads when they brose the Internet. Note that this technology does not collect any personal information.

Cybermetrics

Cybermetrics is a method used to collect and measure data in order to evaluate user behaviour on the Sites. RIO mainly uses this cybermetric data to produce statistics and reports on user navigation on the Sites. Information collected with this method mainly includes, but is not limited to: pages consulted, the date, time, frequency and length of visits, links clicked, geographical position, type of operating system used, language, name of Internet provider, and IP address.

Use of web beacons

Web beacons are images integrated on our Sites or in our emails. They are mainly used for statistical analysis. They may also be used to follow and/or measure behaviour.

Personal information

Generally, you do not have to provide any personal information on the Sites, unless you purchase online tickets for our activities, you are signing up for the Park Newsletter or wish to communicate with RIO via email to rio@rio.gouv.qc.ca, and in those cases, the Privacy Policy applies.

Any personal information collected is required to process your purchase, to respond to your request, and is inherent to Internet functionality. Only authorized members of our staff or representatives have access to your personal information and will use that information only to respond to your request. RIO reminds you that you should not send personal information when communicating to us by email.

Any personal information collected is stored in a secure manner for the duration needed to respond to your request, and is then destroyed in accordance to RIO’s records schedule and with the Law of access.

Any personal information can only be shared with a third party or government as outlined in the Law of access or for processing your transaction. This information may also be used for research, evaluation, investigation, or surveys.

If users post personal information on RIO’s Sites, it is at their own risk. Such personal information may be collected and used by third parties without the users prior approval.

Publication of comments on the Sites

RIO does regular moderation on the Sites, but not continuously. RIO does not modify the published comments. However, RIO reserve the right to mute a post, or to delete comments inciting hatred or violence, containing personal information on third parties allowing the users to identify them personally (address, telephone number, email address, etc.), or containing discriminatory language based, upon others, on race, sex, religion, nationality or sexual orientation.

RIO remembers to users the public character of the published comments on the Sites, that they may be reproduced by third parties on others sites, and that RIO is not responsible for such practices.

RIO is not responsible for proposed external links reproduced in the comments.

Intranet

Intranet is only accessible to RIO’s employees.

Texts shall be short and concise and written in appropriate French.

Private messages send from one employee to another shall not contain confidential or personal information.

Politics, financial or religious solicitation is prohibited.

No profitable sale of goods or services is authorized.

A classified ad is published on the intranet for a month. The same classified ad cannot be published again in the period mentioned above unless its content has been modified and, in such case, the initial classified ad shall be deleted.

Regarding the sale of tickets, the advertiser shall indicate in its ad the original source and purchase cost.

All ads more than 2 MB will be automatically blocked by the server.
