Polar bears, emperor penguins and wolves come to life under the lights to reveal the beauty and fragility of their world. This artwork invites you to reflect on the impacts of climate change and to take small actions that can lead to big change. A free experience, open to all, to discover at the Olympic Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nordic Landscape&nbsp;is a creation imagined by M.A.D. Collectif with drawings by Cree artist Jason Carter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Presentation of the works:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This co-creation shares a message celebrating the beauty and richness of our environment and Indigenous cultures. The struggle for survival of our neighbours from the North and the South is revealed here, encouraging reflection on our responsibility toward these beings, living witnesses to the consequences of climate change. In the Cree Nation, the bear carries a powerful meaning of hope, and its presence in dreams is interpreted as a sign of good things to come. We hope this installation inspires people to take concrete action and proves our benevolent polar bears right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the artists:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>M.A.D. Collectif<\/strong><br><em>Fashion \u00b7 Arts \u00b7 Entertainment<\/em><br>M.A.D. Collectif is a creative laboratory and a collaborative space dedicated to producing content centred on self-expression, as well as innovative festivals and urban experiences. Active in the event industry since 1999, M.A.D. Collectif now produces and delivers major initiatives including the M.A.D. Festival, Downtown Experience, Urban Games, M.A.D. Shoppe, various international projects and a wide range of corporate events. Thanks to its expertise and network, M.A.D. Collectif stands out as a leader in the fields of fashion, arts, culture and entertainment across North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jason Carter<\/strong><br>Jason Carter is a sculptor, painter, illustrator and public artist from the Little Red River Cree Nation. He grew up in Edmonton and is a graduate of NAIT and MacEwan University (Distinguished Alumnus 2017). He has created major permanent installations at the Calgary and Edmonton International Airports. His sculptures and paintings can also be found in numerous public spaces (CNA, AFA, Calgary and Edmonton YWCA, Microsoft, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Stantec, Banff Caribou Properties) and in private collections around the world. Jason has illustrated five children\u2019s books and created&nbsp;<em>The World of Boo<\/em>&nbsp;for the Art Gallery of Alberta in 2015. In March 2019, he was commissioned by the Museum of Aboriginal Peoples\u2019 Art and Artifacts of Canada to paint two canvases (79&#8243; x 29&#8243; and 58&#8243; x 29&#8243;). Jason is delighted to collaborate with M.A.D.
