The Olympic Park is expecting approximately 80,000 spectators on August 11 and 13. Roads, public transport, and Stadium doors will be crowded with fans. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get here—and arrive as early as possible so you don’t miss a thing!

Pre-tallica Party: The official pre-show event

Starting at 1 p.m., join us on the Esplanade for the Pre-tallica party—the official pre-show event!

On the program, just to set the mood before the main act : food and beverage offer, sale of derivative products and free musical performances by Sword, on August 11 and Anonymus on August 13, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.!

Free entry for ticket holders. Ticket validation and searches are mandatory to join the Pre-tallica Party, which lets concertgoers into the Stadium as soon as doors open. No re-entry permitted.

Public transportation

By metro, exit at Pie-IX metro station on Line 1 – Green.

Plan your trip directly on the STM home page. Note that many Streets will be closed for the concert which may affect bus stops. See the map of Street closures below for more information.

Large crowds are expected at the Olympic Park on August 11 and 13. Please leave early to ensure you arrive on time.

Buy your round-trip fare in advance to avoid waiting in line at Pie-IX station. For more details, visit the STM Website or take a look at the FAQ section below.

A Metallica Unlimited Weekend pass will be available for purchase on August 10 and 11 at all Société des Transports de Montréal (STM) points of sale, in the metro. This pass is valid in Zones A, B, C and D for bus, metro, train and REM networks, from Friday August 11 at 10 a.m. to Monday August 14 at 5 a.m.

Active transportation

Bike racks and BIXI stations are located at the Olympic Park and around the neighbourhood. See the BIXI stations map for precise locations.

Car, taxi, and Uber

If you plan to arrive by car on August 11 or 13, be sure to reserve your parking spot now, as these are filling up. Print your parking pass on paper and bring it with you on the day(s) you arrive.

Please do not arrive by car on these dates if you have not reserved a parking spot.  

If you’re arriving by taxi or Uber, or someone is giving you a lift, we invite you to be dropped off at the corner of Marseille and Viau. Note that Viau Street will be closed to cars, but Marseille will be open in both directions on August 11 and 13.

Road closures and slowdowns will be in effect during these periods.

To everyone arriving by plane outside of Quebec for the Metallica concerts, the Olympic Park and YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport welcome you to Montréal and to the Olympic Stadium!

Street closures

August 11 and 13 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 AM

As part of the Montreal Pride Festival and Metallica shows, please be informed that the following Streets will be closed to the traffic:

  • Pierre-De Coubertin Avenue, between Pie-IX and Viau
  • Pie-IX Boulevard, between Hochelaga and Sherbrooke
  • Viau Street, between Hochelaga and Sherbrooke

These Streets will be closed on Friday, August 11, from 9 a.m. until 3 a.m. Saturday, August 12, as well as on Sunday, August 13, from 9 a.m. until 3 a.m. Monday, August 14.

During this time, Desjardins, De la Salle, Létourneux, Bennett, Aird, Sicard, Leclaire and Théodore Streets, will be partially obstructed and only accessible to local traffic. Proof of address will be required for vehicular access to all residences.

FAQ

What items are prohibited at the Olympic Stadium?

  • Any bag larger than 4.5” x 6.5”, including purses, camera/binocular cases, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, briefcases, and computer bags. There will be no coat check service available.
  • Seat cushions of any size, except for medical purposes.
  • Clothing with batteries (shoes, sweaters, etc.).
  • Bottles (including reusable water bottles), cans, coolers, and thermoses.
  • Any outside food or drinks, except for medical purposes (e.g. severe allergies, diabetes, etc.). A medical prescription must be provided.
  • Alcohol of any kind.
  • Illegal drugs.
  • Banners, flags, and posters of any size.
  • Glowsticks and other illuminating objects.
  • Horns, megaphones, and whistles.
  • Laser pointers.
  • Balloons and balls of any kind.
  • Cameras, video cameras, audio recording equipment, GoPros, tablets.
  • Selfie sticks and sticks of any kind.
  • Weapons, including firearms, knives, and any object that can be used as a projectile or deemed dangerous by Stadium security.
  • Football, motorcycle, and bike helmets.
  • All animals, except service animals.
  • Any combustible products, such as aerosols and fireworks.
  • Accessories with spikes, spurs, and wallets with long chains.
  • Any clothing or item bearing hate messages, representing criminal activity, or gang affiliations.
  • Olympic Park management reserves the right to confiscate any other items deemed inappropriate.

What happens if I show up with a prohibited item?

Any item from the prohibited items list will be confiscated at the Stadium entrance and will not be returned. Our staff reserves the right to refuse you entrance to the site if it is deemed necessary, without refund.

What kind of bag am I allowed to bring?

Only bags measuring 4.5” x 6.5” or smaller are permitted on site. Any larger bags will be refused, including purses, camera/binocular cases, backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, briefcases, and computer bags. There will be no coat check service available.

Will a coat check service be available?

No. Please bring only what’s permitted.

I have a medical condition and as a result I must bring medication and/or food. Can I carry a bag for them, larger than the required 4.5 in. x 6.5 in.?

Yes you can, with presentation of medical proof. That being said, please bring the smallest bag possible containing only what is strictly essential for your needs. Large bags and backpacks will not be accepted.

I have a medical prescription. How can I bring my medication?

Any medication accompanied by a prescription (label) is allowed.

I purchased entry for the August 11 and August 13 concert combo, but I only received one ticket. Will I be sent an additional ticket for the August 13 concert?

No. Your ticket gives you access to both concerts and will be valid at the Stadium entrance for both August 11 and 13. Please download your ticket to your phone before you arrive via Apple Wallet or Google Pay.

Can I bring a printout or screenshot of my ticket to enter the Stadium?

No. Printouts and screenshots are not valid tickets. You must download your ticket to your phone via Apple Wallet or Google Pay before you arrive.

How do I download my ticket to my phone?

  • From your smartphone, log in to your Ticketmaster account or download the official Ticketmaster app.
  • Under the “My Tickets” tab, select the event to view your ticket. Then add it to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay.
  • When you arrive for the concert, be ready to show your ticket on your phone. Be sure your phone is charged. Printouts and screenshots are not valid tickets.

What can I do if I don’t have a smartphone and can’t download my ticket?

If you don’t have a smartphone, bring your purchase order number with you to the customer service on the day of the event to have your tickets printed. On the day of the concerts, the customer service at the outdoor customer service (along Pierre-De Coubertin Ave.) will be open as of 12:30 p.m.

I need to transfer my concert ticket or accept a ticket transfer from someone else. When do I need to do this?

If you need to transfer a ticket or accept a transfer on Ticketmaster, be sure to do this before the event starts, at 6 pm. You will not be able to transfer a ticket or accept a transfer after 6 pm. Give the person receiving the ticket enough time to add it to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay.

I have to pick up tickets on site (will call). Where should I go?

You can pick up the tickets at the Stadium Rotunda, 4545 Pierre-De Coubertin Avenue, also accessible through the interior corridor of the Pie-IX metro.
Note that the will call counter is located next to the inside entrance of the Stadium and it’s therefore possible that the security search will take place before you retrieve the tickets.

Furthermore, please know that our personnel may direct spectators to the interior or exterior entrance, depending on the waiting time. Should you be directed outside, simply let them know that you need to get to the will call counter and you’ll be allowed to pass.

After August 11, will I be able to transfer a ticket purchased as a combo (August 11 and 13) to another person, for the August 13 concert?

Yes. After the Friday show, on Saturday, you could transfer the ticket to another person from your Ticketmaster account and they will be able to come on Sunday with your ticket.

If you need to transfer or accept a ticket transfer on the Ticketmaster platform, be sure to do so before the event begins, at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. You will no longer be able to do so, once the concert has begun.

I have a problem with my ticket(s): what should I do?

Should you have a problem with your ticket(s), you can contact the ticket office at billetterie@parcolympique.ca.

Two (2) customer service points will also be available at the Olympic Park on August 11 and 13; the first, located at the Olympic Stadium’s interior entrance (4545, avenue Pierre-de Coubertin), will be in operation from 4 p.m. The second, located at the outside entrance, on avenue Pierre-De Coubertin, will be in operation from 12:30 p.m.

Can I bring cigarettes, cannabis, or a vape?

It is forbidden to smoke or vape inside the Stadium. However, the following articles will not be confiscated during the search:

  • Cannabis from the SQDC in a sealed container (30 grams max)
  • Cigarettes
  • Vapes

A space reserved for smokers will be provided outside, during show hours.

What payment methods are accepted at the Olympic Stadium?

  • To purchase merchandise: Credit and debit only. All cards are accepted.
  • For food or drinks: Cash, debit, and credit are accepted (except for American Express).

I live outside Canada. What ID should I present when buying alcohol (18+)?

Your driver’s license, health card, passport or any other type of official document issued by your state or government, indicating your date of birth. 

Who can access the Pre-tallica Party?

Only concertgoers that have a ticket to the same-day Metallica concert will have access to the Pre-tallica Party. Their ticket will be validated and the search will be carried out at the Pre-tallica party entrance, thereby spectators will have direct entry to the Stadium. No re-entry.

What is the minimum age to attend the concerts?

There is no minimum age requirement for the Metallica concerts; however, young people under the age of 16, must have their own ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Children under 2 years of age don’t need a ticket as they can sit on their parent’s lap.

That being said, take into consideration that the concerts will be very loud and aren’t the most favorable environments for very young children. We strongly recommend that children wear a noise-canceling headset during these concerts.

Can I leave the Stadium or Pre-Tallica Party and return?

No. No re-entry will be allowed.

How do I get to the Olympic Stadium?

I have a parking ticket for August 11 or 13 (P1, P2, P3 or P4). Where should I enter the parking lots from?

Entrance for lots P1, P2, P3 and P4 will only be accessible through parking lot P4, located at 4200 Sherbrooke Street East. Once inside, you will then be able to proceed to the parking that applies to you, according to the confirmation. 

Please print your parking ticket on paper. This will facilitate your orientation and allows for a quicker access.  

I have a ticket for the P5 parking. Where do I enter?

The entrance is located at 3200 Viau Street.

It’s possible that the Montreal police department (SPVM) closes the street, however, the agents on site know that some customers need access to the P5. By notifying the agent that your parking space is reserved, you will be able to enter.

Please print your parking ticket on paper. This will facilitate your orientation and allows for a quicker access.  

Will there be a drop-off area at the Olympic Park for taxis, Uber, or anyone getting a lift?

We invite you to be dropped off at the corner of Marseille and Viau. Note that Viau Street will be closed to cars, but Marseille will be available in both directions on the weekend of the Metallica concert.

Is there a platform for people coming by adapted transport?

Yes, it’s located at 3200, rue Viau, entrance P5, level 1 (underground)
Should Viau Street be blocked by agents at the time of your arrival, the driver can inform them that access to the adapted transport platform at the P5 entrance is required and the vehicle will be authorized to enter by said agents.

What are the different tickets available to travel in the STM transport network?

Unlimited trips from 10 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Available on Thursday, August 3 and Friday, August 4 at métro stations and metropolitan ticket offices. Valid in Zones A, B, C and D for bus, métro, train and REM networks. The Metallica fare was created just for you.

Is universal access available in the metro stations serving the Olympic Park, for people with functional limitations?

Yes. Pie-IX station is universally accessible. Customers with functional limitations can use the elevators at this station. If the elevators at this station are out of service, the nearby Viau station is also universally accessible.

I lost an object during the concert at the Olympic Stadium: is there a possibility to get it back?

All lost items will be taken to the Olympic Stadium’s security office, located at 4545, avenue Pierre-De Coubertin (to the left of the Stadium’s main entrance).

If you lost something inside the Stadium on August 11 or 13, please come in person at the security office from Monday, August 14 to see if found and collect it. Please know that hundreds of items turn up after all major events and the personnel isn’t able to identify your property without your presence.
